Coupled Map Lattices are a beatiful mathematical object introduced in the 80´s as a model for some coupled non-linear systems. Beyond its intrinsic mathematical interest, they can also be used as models for, among others, interacting populations in biology and chemical reactions.
In this talk I will introduce this object and review some of its basic properties, focusing mainly in the use of examples. In the end, if possible, I will try to present some possible extensions due to some recent colaboration with P. Duarte (U. of Lisbon) and J. Torres (U. of Minho).
